If you go down to the woods today…

Another planned outing bit the dust today… our oh so weak flesh was not up to an hour and a half drive to Dungeness. Instead we had a brief local outing. But the woodland held some surprises. Looks like the fairies had been out and left their playthings around!

After days of wind and rain it felt glorious to be out among sun-dappled trees…

and magical moss-clad stumps.

Most of the woodland was coppiced chestnut allowed to mature, which the leaf-litter clearly shows.

As well as scattered oaks and a few firs. On the other site of the entry track, birch predominates.

The understory is of new, self-planted trees…

…and ferns.

Rant it out!
