Winter Flowering

Even although we have had some frosts (we don’t get them every year) the plants continue to flower. All these are just below our kitchen window. in a space maybe ten feet wide between three walls is is the most sheltered nook in the garden. Moreover, it has a micro-climate I believe, created by the steam outlet from our tumble drier which tends to be in use most days.

Peruvian Lily – Alstroemeria aurea

Fuchsia

Abutilon

While much of the garden is looking decidedly ropy this corner blooms and flourishes and was favoured yesterday by a wren gathering something… it looked like nesting material but wrens do roost in places for warmth so maybe it had something to do with that.

Rant it out!
