Even although we have had some frosts (we don’t get them every year) the plants continue to flower. All these are just below our kitchen window. in a space maybe ten feet wide between three walls is is the most sheltered nook in the garden. Moreover, it has a micro-climate I believe, created by the steam outlet from our tumble drier which tends to be in use most days.

While much of the garden is looking decidedly ropy this corner blooms and flourishes and was favoured yesterday by a wren gathering something… it looked like nesting material but wrens do roost in places for warmth so maybe it had something to do with that.
