Chasing after a bumblebee that would not let me photograph it, I saw this hoverfly out of the corner of my eye. Not new but resting and easy to photograph pretty well… far better than previous pictures.

Moreover you can see the two diagnostic features making it hard to confuse with any other UK hoverfly… the white ‘comma’ markings and the inflated frons (forehead).
