Overlooked

Last of the National Tree Week pictures is of a hedge at my local surgery. Beech can form a dense hedge and the leaves often tend to cling through winter almost until fresh buds appear.

European Beech Fagus sylvatica

I rate the beech as the most beautiful of trees with its smooth grey bark, it is long-lived and large. Some varieties are just unurpassed for beauty like the copper beech which is a subspecies.

Here are some overlooked and recently identified (by me that is) fungi.

Weeping Bolete Suillus granulatus
